Slanghoek Cellar responds to wine lovers’ demands – increases footprint

Breedekloof winery appoints new national distributor.

Slanghoek Cellar, situated along the picturesque Breedekloof Wine Route, has steadily been gaining a reputation as a cellar which provides wine enthusiasts with top class drinking at exceptionally reasonable prices – resulting in a nationwide demand for its wines – a demand which will now be catered for with the appointment of fine wine distributors, PB Liquor Merchants.

Since its establishment in 1951, the team at Slanghoek Cellar has been driven by a mandate to produce a range of high quality and highly drinkable wines, reflective of the unique vine-growing conditions at the foot of the majestic Slanghoek Mountains, and the Breedekloof Valley at large. With access to unique and older vineyard pockets, Slanghoek Cellar has managed to build a following for its wines that year-after-year attract a loyal following of wine drinkers looking for quality wines without the hefty price tag – and with awards to match.

To date, Slanghoek wines were only available for purchase via the cellar’s website, as well as liquor stores in metropoles in the Western Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape. According to Pieter Carstens, Cellar Master of Slanghoek Cellar, consumer demand for the Cellar’s wines necessitated a bigger footprint.

Responding to this consumer demand, fine wine distributors PB Liquor Merchants will ensure delivery of Slanghoek’s portfolio of wines to major retailers nationwide – and not only limited to metropoles – such as Tops, Makro, Ultra Liquors and Liquor City, to name a few.

Taking distribution one step further, Slanghoek’s wines are now also available through Bidvest Food Service, allowing a national footprint for the lovers of fine dining.

Says Carstens, “In keeping with the times and given the competitiveness of the market and an increased demand inland, it is imperative to have a national footprint. The appointment of a new distributor will give us just that. Furthermore, we wanted to return the love and loyalty by giving lovers of Slanghoek wines the taste they love in the most convenient way – right where they are.”
